About Us
Who We Are
A community of faith, love, and purpose — planted in Birmingham to make an eternal difference.
Mission & Vision
The Redeemed Christian Church of God is built on a divine mandate — a covenant to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth until every nation is reached for Christ.
- 1
To make heaven.
- 2
To take as many people with us.
- 3
To have a member of RCCG in every family of all nations.
- 4
To accomplish No. 1 above, holiness will be our lifestyle.
- 5
To accomplish No. 2 and 3 above, we will plant churches within five minutes' walking distance in every city and town of developing countries and within five minutes' driving distance in every city and town of developed countries.
- 6
We will pursue these objectives until every nation in the world is reached for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Beliefs
Rooted in Scripture, the RCCG holds to the core doctrines of the Christian faith as revealed in the Bible.
The Bible
The entire Scripture — Old and New Testament — is divinely inspired, the written and revealed will of God. Its teachings are holy, authoritative, and unchanging.
2 Tim. 3:16-17
One God
There is one God, Creator of all things visible and invisible — eternal, self-existent, and revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit: three Persons, one God.
Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19
Jesus Christ
Jesus is the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary — fully God and fully man. He died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and is the only Saviour of the world.
John 1:1-14; 1 Cor. 15:3-4
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, equal in glory with the Father and the Son. He regenerates, sanctifies, empowers, and equips believers with spiritual gifts.
John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8
Salvation
Salvation is by grace through faith — beginning with genuine repentance and new birth, and continuing in progressive sanctification as we walk in holiness before God.
Eph. 2:8-9; John 3:3
Baptism
We believe in water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and in the baptism of the Holy Spirit — evidenced by speaking in tongues.
Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:4
Divine Healing
Healing is provided in the atonement of Christ. By His stripes we are healed — God heals today through prayer, the laying on of hands, and faith in His Word.
Isa. 53:4-5; James 5:14-15
The Second Coming
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ — first to rapture His saints, then to reign on earth and judge all mankind. Every knee shall bow before Him.
1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 19:11

The RCCG Story — Where it All Began
A church born from a divine covenant — and destined to cover the earth.
A Calling Answered — 1952
In 1952, Pa Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi founded the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Lagos, Nigeria — not by ambition, but by divine compulsion. Born in 1909 in Ondo State, he spent years seeking God through various churches before yielding fully to God's call. In a supernatural vision, he saw the words “The Redeemed Christian Church of God” written before him — and despite being unable to read or write, he was enabled by God to write them down. The Lord made a covenant with him: the church would go to the ends of the earth, and He would meet every need if His people remained faithful to His Word.
Explosive Growth — 1981 to Today
Following Pa Akindayomi's passing in 1980, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye — a mathematics lecturer who had joined the church in 1973 and been ordained in 1975 — became General Overseer. Under his leadership, an open explosion of growth began. Today the RCCG has over 40,000 parishes in Nigeria and a presence spanning every continent: across Africa, Europe, North America, Asia, the Caribbean, and beyond.
The Holy Ghost Service
One of the RCCG's most powerful expressions of faith is the Holy Ghost Service — an all-night miracle service held on the first Friday of every month at the Redemption Camp, Km. 46, Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. With an average attendance of around 500,000 worshippers, it is one of the largest regular Christian gatherings in the world. The Holy Ghost Service now holds simultaneously in the United Kingdom, USA, Canada, India, South Africa, Australia, and many more nations.
Our Mission
To make God known in Birmingham and beyond — through authentic worship, the preaching of His Word, compassionate service, and the raising of disciples who carry the Kingdom into every sphere of life.
Our Vision
To be a spiritual home for the diverse community of Birmingham — a place of supernatural encounter, transformational discipleship, and citywide impact. We see a church that raises leaders, restores families, and serves the city with excellence and love.
Our Core Values
These six convictions are not statements on a wall — they are the DNA of everything we do.
Worship
We believe the presence of God is the greatest thing we can offer. Every gathering is designed to create space for genuine, spirit-led worship.
The Word
The Bible is our foundation. We are committed to teaching God's Word with clarity, conviction, and practical relevance to every generation.
Prayer
Prayer is not a ritual — it is our lifeline. We build a culture of intercession that covers our congregation, families, and the city of Birmingham.
Community
We are stronger together. From our home groups to our programmes, we intentionally cultivate belonging, care, and meaningful connection.
Transformation
We believe every life can be turned around by the power of God. Our pastoral care, counselling, and support systems exist to walk with people through real change.
Excellence
We give God our very best. In worship, in ministry, in service — we pursue excellence not out of pride, but as an expression of honour to God.
Minister in Charge
Servant leader, preacher, shepherd.

Our Story
From a faithful beginning to a growing movement — this is how God built Pentecost Arena.
A Seed Planted in Faith
On 11th September 2011, RCCG Pentecost Arena, Birmingham was born — not with fanfare or great numbers, but with something far more powerful: faith. Two family members stepped out in obedience to God's call, carrying a vision to establish a house of prayer and praise in the heart of Birmingham. From the very beginning, this church was not built on human strength, but on the unshakeable promise of God.
Tested, Tried & Proven
The early years were marked by the kind of quiet, refining trials that only God can use for His glory. Membership was small and the road was not without challenge — yet the congregation remained steadfast, anchored in prayer and the Word. In due season, at God's appointed time, the tide turned. What man could not manufacture, God orchestrated. The church began to grow, and it became increasingly clear that this was His doing from the start.
Building Generations
Little by little, God has been building His church — true to His Word that it is "not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit" (Zechariah 4:6). Today, Pentecost Arena is home to a vibrant Children's Church and Youth Church, where the Word of God is taught with intentionality, depth, and genuine love. Led by seasoned teachers, parents, and mentors, the next generation is being raised in the faith with purpose and passion.
Where We Worship & Where We Are Going
The congregation currently gathers for worship at Tangmere Drive, Castle Vale, Birmingham, B35 6EE — a home we are deeply grateful for. Yet our eyes are fixed on the horizon. The church is actively trusting God for its own permanent building — a dedicated space where generations will encounter Him, be transformed, and go out to change the world. He who began this good work will be faithful to complete it. Philippians 1:6.
